Honeywell’s HCE Connected Buildings Product team is looking for an experienced, energetic, and innovative Senior Embedded Software Engineer to be based in Richmond, VA or Atlanta, GA. We are a global software and services company that develops and markets Niagara, a M2M software framework that solves the challenges of managing smart devices in real time, over the Internet. With ~1,000,000 instances successfully applied in energy-services, building-automation and industrial-automation, Niagara is the operating system for “The Internet of Things”.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop firmware applications and scripts on different platforms
  • Participate in full software development lifecycle from idea conception through release and maintenance
  • Utilize various microprocessor/microcontroller development kits to determine design compatibility
  • Collaborate with hardware team during design, development and integration
  • Assist with the maintenance of source repositories
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to define features
  • Partner with Software Quality Assurance during software test process
  • Troubleshoot support inquiries escalated from internal technical support group

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in software related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree in software related discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of C programming experience
  • 2+ years of system level debugging experience using JTAG or other similar interfaces

Desired Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology
  • Experience with Ubuntu Core Linux development
  • Experience with Java programming development
  • Experience with shell scripting
  • Experience with TCP/IP, RS232 and RS485 protocols
  • Experience with board bring up for new products
  • Experience with cloud-based PaaS/SaaS environments
