General Summary

Gas Technology Institute (GTI), the nation’s leading research, development, deployment, and training organization serving energy markets, has an opportunity for an experienced scientist or engineer in our Energy Delivery research group. The qualified candidate will act as a Test Engineer and will work closely with more senior engineers and scientists both inside and out of the laboratories. The individual will perform hands-on tasks involving test set up and instrumentation for data collection in the lab and in the field to support cross-cutting research efforts throughout the energy industry. The candidate is responsible for performing engineering/scientific assignments under the general direction of an R&D Supervisor or Principal Investigators.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Applies standard engineering/scientific practices to complex features of designs
  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment and independent evaluation
  • Prepares test plans and carries out testing using good science and practices
  • Participates in preparing proposals
  • Participates actively in project teams
  • Adheres to project scope, deliverables, and budgets
  • Attends safety meetings, safety training and applies safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to think logically and apply knowledge to new and unique situations
  • Basic project management skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of safe practices and safety standards
Education and Experience Desired
  • (Associate Engineer P1) B.S. in an engineering or scientific field with 0-4 years’ experience or M.S./Ph.D. with 2 years’ experience
  • (Engineer P2) Bachelor’s degree with a minimum or 5 years’ experience or master’s or Ph.D. degree with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
