Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

At PerkinElmer, we’re passionate about building software that solves problems. We are looking for a site reliability engineer (SRE) to empower our users with a rich feature set, high availability, and performance to pursue their missions. As we expand our customer deployments, we are currently seeking an experienced SRE to deliver insights from our laboratory workflow solution through to our IoT and instrument orchestration platform. Specifically, we are searching for someone has experience collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences at every interaction.

Objectives of this Role

  • Monitoring the production environment for availability and taking a holistic view of system health across cloud and on-premises IoT solutions
  • Resolve customer escalations and help prevent reiteration of those incidents
  • Pioneer and advocate for SRE best practices, processes and tooling
  • Measure and optimize system performance and innovating to continually improve
  • Provide primary operational support for multiple distributed software applications

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze application and system metrics to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve urgent production issues (potentially outside of core business hours)
  • Collaborate with product, QA, and Engineering teams to improve services through change management, testing, and release procedures
  • Collaborate with CloudOps and DevSecOps teams to ensure latest maintenance and security patches and vulnerabilities are up to date
  • Influence sustainable systems and services through deployment automation

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in SRE or DevOps related role
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline
  • Expertise in Application Monitoring Tools (CloudWatch, Instana, Datadog, Grafana)
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipeline tools and concepts
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code platforms such as Terraform / CDK / CloudFormation
  • Proficient in version control tools such as Git (GitHub)
  • Experienced in AWS Cloud Services and technologies
  • Experience with Windows and Linux based operating systems
  • Broad knowledge of cloud networking and security

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage and prioritize assignments and initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Business messaging applications such as Slack and Microsoft Teams)
  • Experience with compliance and regulations requirements such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11
  • Monitoring and management of IoT solutions
  • Monitoring and management of containerization platforms (Docker)
  • Understanding of monitoring serverless functions
