Responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising Design Engineering assignments including major projects for vehicle chassis, and/or components, and/or systems.
To develop design concept drawing, complete assembly drawing, complete component drawing, and complete system drawing for respective vehicle chassis, and/or component, and/or system plus BOM and supporting technical information. Development to meet design compliance to Engineering Standards, product quality and product cost.
Interface with other Komatsu Engineering groups and suppliers as required for exchange of technical information. Provide technical support to Manufacturing for vehicle build issues, Marketing plus Sales for vehicle sales issues, and Service plus Parts for customer issues.
Visit customer sites for resolution of product issues, promotion of sales, maintaining knowledge of mine environment, and understanding customer expectations.
Provide leadership to subordinate Engineers for developing engineering drawings and technical information.
Key Job Responsibilities
Design, develop and test electrical and electronic systems for use on current production and new model mining haul trucks.
Design responsibilities include analog and digital electronic circuits (including 32 bit microprocessors), circuit board layout, vehicle control and fault logic, and vehicle systems monitoring.
Other responsibilities include monitoring contract electronics manufacture processes, drafting checkout procedures, preparing engineering documentation for release, board support level software, and design verification testing including environmental testing.
Systems developed will comply to Komatsu Engineering Standards, product quality and cost requirements.
Interfacing with other Komatsu Engineering groups and suppliers is required for collaboration and exchange of technical information.
Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, and Service.
Occasional visits to customer sites for resolution of product issues, promotion of sales, maintaining knowledge of mine environment, and understanding customer expectations will be required.
Provide leadership to subordinate Engineers for developing engineering documentation and technical information.
BSEE with concentration in computer engineering or equivalent.
Experience in on or off highway vehicle electronics design and computer interfacing to mechanical systems is required.
