  • You’ll be working with software solutions built using JavaScript, Java, Spring framework, Relational and NoSQL databases on Linux based operating systems - all operating as high-availability, large-scale, critical services.
  • We’re looking for a creative problem solver - someone has lots of enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, collaborate and contribute to our team’s knowledge base.
  • The DevOps lifecycle is all about agility and automation. Your passion around delivering high quality solutions through continuous optimization and automation will help accelerate the way we (and our clients) develop and deliver code.
What you’ll do:
  • Working on-site with our team and customers (including traveling to client premises as required within the GTA);
  • Interfacing with the Project Manager/Scrum Master/Product Owner & other members of the technical team;
  • Helping our team and our clients develop their DevOps practices using principles such as automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery and proactive monitoring;
  • Designing and developing scripts and tools for continuous integration and continuous deployments;
  • Ensuring that the code you’ve written functions as designed by creating automated unit, integration and acceptance tests, which execute in a continuous delivery pipeline;
  • Providing thought leadership and mentorship on DevOps best practices and approaches with a focus on ensuring quality outcomes for our clients.
  • Automating everything and anything in our infrastructure and solutions;
  • Engaging with our customers to provide proactive and regular updates for key performance indicators related to Sentaca developed solutions;
  • Responding to all customer issues and queries providing clear and concise updates and seeing issues through to resolution;
  • Managing lab and production server configurations, backups, network configurations and ownership of all maintenance activities;
  • Creating and maintaining technical and operational documents;
  • Participating in the after hours on-call system to ensure our solutions are operational around the clock;
  • Contributing to the Sentaca Knowledge Base by creating, editing and sharing documents and materials about projects, best practices and/or relevant technology as discussed/determined with the Director of Operations.
  • What you’ll bring:
  • This is a client facing role, and being comfortable communicating and being professionally fluent in English (both written and verbal) is mandatory;
  • Experience using Linux and relevant experience with networking, security, caching and low-level performance tuning;
  • Experience with scripting (such as Bash, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud technologies, i.e. Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform;
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible;
  • Experience deploying microservices using container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Swarm) is an asset;
  • Experience with continuous integration/delivery practices and other DevOps concepts, with hands-on experience using one of Jenkins or Gitlab;
  • Experience with developing and maintaining RESTful web services;
  • Experience with log investigation and packet trace analysis;
  • Experience with both MySQL/NoSQL databases;
  • Experience working in a support role;
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Creative, yet organized approach to solving problems and providing root cause analysis;
  • Some experience with Java, Python, NodeJS or any major programming language.
Nice to have:
  • Experience with monitoring and reporting frameworks (ELK, Prometheus, InfluxDB/Grafana) is an asset.
