Key Purpose of Role:
  • Landis+Gyr is focused on growing the current Asia Pacific business to become the market leader for smart metering, smart grid solutions, a leading provider of cloud services, IoT applications and data analytics to support the energy industry to evolve with the latest solutions.
  • Central to this business outcome is the development of best-in-class solutions and provision of exceptional customer experience including the seamless implementation of complex and strategic programs with key customers. A core part of the role is bringing your experience in cloud architecture and design engineering to our upcoming technical pre-sales engagements, bids and customer projects.
  • The Technical Solutions Engineer develops and proposes solutions to Landis+Gyr’s customers using a structured project lifecycle methodology and tools to ensure quality in our technical proposals and delivery. The Technical Solutions Engineer evaluates customers and third party suppliers business processes, consults with customers on technical feasibility and integration of processes utilising the solution, develops solutions proposals, engages with other business functions such as delivery, product management, and global teams to ensure that we are leveraging best of business approaches to win new business and successfully deliver customer solutions.
  • The Technical Solutions Engineer oversees the task and as a technical SME to ensure that technical presales, pilots or initial phases of larger delivery projects are successful. Steps in the implementation process include setting roles and responsibilities, success criteria, goals, planning, and monitoring progress to completion or successful handover.
Areas of Responsibility:
  • Solution Management
  • Technical Lead - Provides technical direction for the development, design and systems integration for customer engagement from definition phase through
  • implementation handover
  • Knowledge - Applies knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our customers,
  • Coordinates – May lead other resources, clearly communicates direction and tasks, monitors and evaluates work, provides feedback and mentoring
  • Quality Management – provides quality planning, quality assurance and quality control activities
  • Communications Management – provides progress and performance reporting and stakeholder communications management activities
  • Training - develop training plans, requirements documents and coordinate training deliverable
  • Trouble shooting - Easily recognises system deficiencies and implement effective solutions
  • Presales – Assist Solution Architect to conduct client presentation, workshop, requirement gathering
  • Create and maintain product/solution backlogs and priorities the backlog items discussing with various stakeholders
  • Test Environment support – develop test environment for supporting presales and extended delivery organisation if needed
  • Manage repoistry of technical compliance and comparatives for the opportunity at hand
  • Create templates for technical response to RFX

Professional Experience
  • A Technical Solutions Engineer is expected to be able to hands on application Person with ability to architect and deploy Landis+Gyr solutions of full complexity, typically:
  • End-to-end solutions covering the integration of multiple IT applications products through hardware, communications and software
  • Experience in technical architecture for cloud software and security, with a strong preference for GCP
  • Good technical knowledge especially of Smart Grid Systems and Software Solutions having deployed and / or supported the deployment of technical software solutions for AMI metering
  • An understanding of IP networking, cloud computing, HA and DR systems
  • Experience in setup and configuration of technical equipment such as IoT devices, network devices, routers and switches
  • Setting-up Virtual Machines running Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Minimum 2 years of specific experience installing, supporting, maintaining and debugging complex application platform involving security , database and configuration management.
  • A Technical Solutions Engineer is expected to lead the development of the schedule for technical streams of major projects, drawing on specialists within Landis+Gyr and third parties where required.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of related experience
  • Experience in working with solutions involving enterprise-grade software applications
  • Utility/Retail operations experience is favourable
  • Experience in process definition and delivery to meet overall business objectives
  • Experience in analysing and understanding specifications and requirements
  • Practiced user of configuration management tools
  • Business Process consulting experience a plus
Qualifications and Additional Requirements
  • University degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, MCA, computer systems design or computer science or engineering equivalent
  • Cloud architecture qualification is mandatory – strong preference for GCP
  • Experience in working with electricity utilities Indian/Global is a plus
  • MBA in Power systems/IT management is desirable
  • CCNA or equivalent certification is favourable
