The Opportunity
  • We are actively seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our growing Engineering team at Suretrack, a division of AGI. In this role, the Embedded Software Engineer contributes to the new product firmware design, development, validation, testing, product technical expert support to other division as required and advancement of the existing products with focus on the embedded software.
The Team
  • We are a dynamic team of engineering professionals from varied backgrounds. We collaborate closely with both the AGI Suretrack team within and the many other AGI Divisions. The Embedded Software Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager.
  • The Embedded Software Engineer provides and receives information and guidance from the Engineering Team to perform their functions of their position, including but not limited to the following:
  • Design, implementation and validation of the embedded software as per provided software requirement specification
  • Maintenance of existing product software design, bug fixing, software releases, documentation update and product improvement activities
  • Modification of existing embedded software to fit unique product feature needs and configuration to improve product quality
  • Plan, perform and/or coordinate system verification and validation testing.
  • Provide problem solving of Embedded Systems issues of new/existing product development and current production equipment, to quickly determine root cause with limited support from others.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, create and maintain design and software application artifacts.
  • Work closely with other project team members as needed to ensure the final product has systems which function properly.
  • Comply with Division and Engineering standards.
  • Experience working with ARM controllers – cortex M series or similar with knowledge of bootloader, memory architecture, thumb instructions
  • Proficiency in communication protocols like: I2C, SPI, USB, SDRAM/FLASH, JTAG, RS232, RS485, SDIO, CAN, Modbus
  • Development experience of wireless application using NBIoT, LTE modem, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (BLE), 802.15.4, 2.4GHz, Sub 1-GHz is an asset
  • Proficient in using C/C++ IDE: IAR workbench, CCS, Eclipse, MPLAB or similar
  • Experience with Nordic, Renesas, TI, Microchip or ST controller firmware development
  • IoT system end to end development, validation and testing experience using MQTT, CoAP, XMPP or similar
  • Solid understanding of SDLC with subversion tools like Git, SVN is an asset
  • Experience with independently designing, developing and testing of software module level API’s.
  • Experience with testing tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively & effectively in a collaborative design team, including representatives from other AGI facilities, departments, customers, and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, organizational and time management skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with good academic or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years embedded system development experience or similar software experience in embedded domain strongly preferred
