Staff Engineer - IOT Systems Engineer

Job Description

The Systems Engineer - IoT will drive i) product definition, ii) high-level end-to-end design and architecture and iii) overseeing software development planning and execution in Qualcomm's IoT Business Unit, that is driving projects with new, leading edge industrial partners/customers. This is a key role that is responsible for making products successful by partnering with product management, business leads and engineering teams.

You will be working with large customers in many verticals like retail, building safety and automation, pharmaceuticals, construction, healthcare, energy production, and distribution, etc. The individual will collaborate with internal and external partners to define new opportunities for Qualcomm technology and solve important business problems.

Responsibilities:

• Identify customer use-cases that translate into comprehensive system requirements to realize a full-featured IOT service platform.
• Delivery of end-to-end system designs spanning mobile/edge, wireless networks, cloud, and front-end applications.
• Formulate prototyping plans, engineering design, with internal and external or 3rd party engineering teams.
• Drive consensus around engineering designs with all key stakeholders.
• Own and drive the overall project execution and successful delivery.

The Ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Master’s or higher degree in Engineering is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to translate and navigate early business and customer goals into actionable engineering and technology solutions for a service-model business.
• Experience and working knowledge in wireless networks such as WiFi, BT, LTE, 5G.
• Depth of knowledge in at least one or more key technology areas is expected (e.g., imaging, CV, audio, modem, connectivity, machine learning, cloud architecture, cloud native applications etc.).
• Self-driven and successfully delivered commercialized products.
• Start-up and hands-on experience in defining and delivering a launched product is a plus.

Education:

Bachelor's or master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
• 2+ years of experience with Development Environment Software such as Apache Maven, Ruby, etc.
• 2+ years of experience with Database Management Software.
• 2+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
• 2+ years of experience with Testing Software such as Bugzilla, LoadRunner, etc.
• 1+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
