Role Summary:


Flowserve’s IoT program is looking for a Manager, IoT Architect to manage a global R&D team focused on developing industry leading technology for our Red Raven IoT portfolio. We are creating solutions to securely connect devices from the edge to the cloud, monitor near-real time data, and provide actionable insights for our customers to make impactful decisions for their business.

This position will require a broad set of technical skills to facilitate development of the next generation core IoT architecture that enables efficient scaling of our Red Raven IoT business. Manage a core team with a range of technical domain specialties including cloud infrastructure, application development, data and analytics, networking, cybersecurity, and edge device connectivity. A leading candidate will have ability to dive deep and solve complex topics with engineers and developers while being comfortable communicating the impact and value of these themes to customers, partners, and senior leadership.


Responsibilities & Requirements: 

  • Evaluate, propose, and implement scalable IoT architectures and application designs with consideration of business and technical requirements
  • Collaborate with IoT product leaders, enterprise IT, and project teams to target potential areas where processes and procedures require innovation and modernization
  • Lead the team to develop robust technical designs through effective technical planning, prioritization, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria with a holistic view of the end-to-end IoT solution
  • Collaborate with the product development team and leverage your subject matter expertise to develop and maintain architectures, standards, and processes for the latest technologies
  • Develop roadmaps and strategies for growth and ensure technical and business considerations are communicated effectively to stakeholders
  • Create and maintain governing principles and ensure IoT architecture and application designs align with enterprise IT and cybersecurity strategies, standards, and procedures
  • Develop cloud solutions and implementation strategies with consideration of total cost of ownership as the IoT business scales. Implement best practices for cloud-based monitoring for resources, systems, and consumption
  • Evaluate, recommend, and manage third party solutions and partnerships which align with business needs and technical proficiencies of the group
  • Follow best practices for IoT solution development procedures, project planning, and documentation with consideration of a connected and globally diverse team.
  • Educate stakeholders on overall IoT Architectures, application designs, and business risks to drive change that supports Flowserve’s enterprise digital growth strategies


Required Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years working in Industrial IoT or Industry 4.0 or related experience
  • 8 or more years working in software development, application architecture, data architecture, networking or related experience
  • Deployed and led at least 1-2 complete cycles of end-to-end customer facing IoT solutions
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Azure, AWS, or related cloud platforms with associated certifications
  • IoT Cloud database technologies, data architectures, data integrity, and data quality assurance processes
  • Continuous integration and deployment pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc.
  • Containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
  • Scrum and Agile software development practices
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field


Preferred Experience / Skills: 

  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field
  • Experience leading global virtual teams
  • Strong understanding of best practices in cybersecurity
  • Experience evaluating and working with third party vendors and technologies
  • Leadership, communication, and presentation skills for technical and business-oriented audiences
  • Experience with cloud native development or application modernization
  • Experience managing fleets of remote physical or cloud hosted systems
  • Experience in application development, prototyping for new markets and value propositions
  • Industry experience in Energy, Manufacturing, or Industrial Automation
  • Experience with SCADA and/or DCS systems
